The Beak May 2017

Mr. Zimmerman, Mrs. McClenahan, Mr. Finkbeiner, Mr. Hills, Mrs. Smith and Mr. Coomes attend the ABE awards luncheon.

2016-2017

This has been a phenomenal year for CIVA Charter High School.  Our mission of creating scholars, citizens and artisans continues to challenge us all to achieve our highest and to inspire solid growth in our students.  We are very pleased to see so many of our graduates having earned admission into great colleges, our arts program continues to excel and the citizenship demonstrated by the students at school and in the community is exceptional.

It has also been nice to receive so many accolades from supporting agencies.  The Colorado Department of Education recognized CIVA with the ‘Governor’s Distinguished Award’ in February.  The Arts Business Education Consortium recognized our Principal with the ‘Distinguished Administrator’ Award for our support of the arts and arts community in Colorado Springs.

The Colorado Department of Education is also featuring CIVA in an upcoming documentary entitled ‘Stories of Promising Practices.’   They selected CIVA because of its unique and efficacious approach to education.  This will be released in the upcoming weeks.

While it has been a remarkable year, we will dearly miss our graduating class of 2017 and the international students that have impacted our school so significantly this year.  We wish them all well on the next phase of their adventure.

ABE Award

The Arts Business Education Consortium (ABE) promotes the growth of cultural arts in education.  The Consortium brings awareness of cultural arts programs in the schools to business executives, school administrators, teachers and parents.  The ABE presented Mr. Zimmerman with the Distinguished Administrator award for an experienced administrator who has contributed to the development of arts in education programs.
